PMNH A Research Team Including Dr. Muhammad Rafique, Rafaqat Masroor And Shabbir Ali Amir And Another Team From The University Of Peshawar, Including Dr. Hassan Zaigham, Abdul Basit, Qaiser Jamal Baseerat Sawera And Visited The Botanical Garden Collection Data.
Dr. Muhammad Rafique Said Significant Lab Work Shows That Species Belong To The Fish Family, Cobitidae And Is Commonly Known As Weather Loach Misgurnus Anguillicaudatus While Scientifically Called. He Noted That The Unique Feature Of This Fish Is That During Periods Of Drought Habitat May Stagnate With Algal Blooms And The Resulting Lack Of Oxygen.
"Under These Conditions, The Members Of This Genus Are Able To Use Their Lower Intestinal Tract And Skin Respiration As Complementary Organizations And Darts To The Glass Surface Of The Atmosphere While At The Same Time Of The Expulsion Of Intestinal Gas Vent. Some Species Have Even Been Recorded To Survive Periods Of Wet Sand Or Clay, Water Shortage, "He Said.

In Addition, Dr. Rafique Said That This Fish Is A Highly Adaptable Species, Tolerant Of A Wide Range Of Physiological Factors And Flexible In Its Diet, Which Has Emerged As One Of The Exotic Species Around The World.
He Also Stated That This Species Could Become Invasive With A Tendency To Spread Widely, It Is Likely Or May Not Be An Environmental, Economic And Ecological Damage. "It Requires More Research On The Ecology, Distribution And Biology Of The Species," He Said.
The Vulnerability Of High Reproductive Potential And Low Predation Have Made This Fish Is A Source Of Concern For Conservation Scientists, Although There Is Still No Evidence That Has A Negative Effect On Native Fish Populations.
